ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION NOTICE
Application for a Permit Amendment Under the Provisions of the Environmental Management Act
We/I, Chetwynd Mechanical Pulp Inc., 4181 Chetwynd Pulp Mill Road, Chetwynd BC VOC 1J0, has submitted this amendment application to the Director to amend Permit 11606, issued October 29, 1993 and last amended June 10, 2020 which authorizes the discharge of refuse to ground, effluent to ground, and storm water to Wallace Creek from a bleached chemical thermo-mechanical pulp mill.
The land upon which the facility is situated and the discharge occurs is District Lot 1767, Peace River Land District, except plan PGP34539, and exc the most westerly 80ft PID: 007-518-161, located at/on/near Chetwynd Pulp Mill Road, within the District of Chetwnd.
The amendment requests that the following conditions be changed from 'the West Collection Pond being prohibited to discharge without Director's written authorization' to 'the West Collection Pond being authorized to discharge to Wallace Creek in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Permit'.
Any person who may be adversely affected by the proposed amendment and wishes to provide relevant information may, within 30 days after the last date of posting, publishing, service or display, send written comments to the applicant, with a copy to the Regional Director, Environmental Protection at Authorizations - North Region, Suite 325 - 1011 4th Avenue, Prince George BC V2L 3H9. DEVELOPMENT OF A PEST MANAGEMENT PLAN Reference #400-150-21/26
PETRONAS CANADA is revising their current Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPMP) under British Columbia's Integrated Pest Management Act and associated regulations.
The purpose of this IPMP is to ensure safe and effective vegetation and invasive weed control by utilizing the most current integrated pest management techniques on PETRONAS facilities, RoW and related infrastructure. This IPMP will cover various activities within the
Northern Rockies Regional Municipality and Peace River Regional District
and associated communities such as Fort Nelson, Fort St John, Tumbler Ridge, Hudson's Hope, Wonowon and other rural communities within those two regions.
Under this IPMP, the following selective methods are proposed and may be used alone or in combination, depending on particular local circumstances:
- Integrated vegetation control measures may include mechanical, manual, cultural, prevention, and herbicide with ATV, truck, backpack, ground applications.
- Trade names of herbicides that may be included as part of this integrated pest management plan: Startup, Arsenal, Clearview, Milestone, Navius VM, Escort, Tordon 22K, Garlon XRT, 2,4-D amine, MCPA, Esplanade SC, Lontrel 360, Eclipse XC, Torpedo.
- Active ingredients in these products are: Aminopyralid, metsulfuron-methyl, MCPA, Imazapyr, Picloram, 2,4-D, Triclopyr, Aminocyclopyrachlor, Indaziflam, Clopyralid, Glyphosate, Flumioxazin, Pyroxasulfone.
The proposed effective date for this PETRONAS IPMP is May 29th, 2021 to May 30th, 2026.
